In 1967, Walt Morey’s novel Gentle Ben was optioned into a short-run movie (which later served as a pilot for the television series, “Gentle Ben”) called “Gentle Giant.” These gorgeous photos show Walt, presumably watching the movie premiere, at Portland’s Orpheum Theater.
The Orpheum Theater was demolished in 1976 and the downtown Nordstrom was built in its place. There are a few great old photos of the Orpheum here.
